Not only does this adorable shop add to the shopping options on Main St., the funds raised here help women down on their luck. The help goes well beyond clothing sales. Its all about community helping community. There is also some cool history at this location.
Creating a great environment to adopt lovable kitties is happening in Tamaqua. On this month's Eye on the Anthracite Region, Dr. McCall visits Coal Cats Cafe. Customers looking for an addition to the family, can mingle with the cats in the coal themed cat room made just for them. Visitors stop by even if they aren't looking to adopt. It's just a fun place to spend some time. All of the interactions help the cats socialize making it easier to find their forever family.

It is currently run by Jody, the daughter of "Tink" who had a knack of finding and selling all types of valuables well before it was the thing to do. Jody and her family not only have a constant rotation of treasures displayed in their over 100 year old building but they add modern touches here and there.

New Life Thrift Store and Donation Center is an award winning shop that offers gently used men's and women's clothing at deep discounts. Owner Steve Delucia took his time during the pandemic to not only pick the right location for his dream business but also take time to work out every detail. Luckily, he chose our area to open The Little Brown Barrel and the response have been very positive. A great family atmosphere complete with scrumptious food and drink has become a destination for a great night out.

On this month's Eye on the Anthracite Region, we make our first visit to the business community in Pine Grove. Sudzz Apotheca opened it's doors here in southern Schuylkill county in 2023. The venture started because a local family needed natural products for their children. In just a few short month's, this home based business has evolved into a bustling storefront with a wide variety of products from soaps, scrubs and even bug spray all made with natural ingredients.
